French Space Exhibition "Between Heaven and Earth"

Astana, National Space Center (89, Turan Ave)

August 24, 2018 from 10:00 till 17:00

French exhibition "Between Heaven and Earth" will be held in Astana in the National Space Center. The exhibition presents unique models, video materials, interactive stands and panels, information panels and other exhibits that will help visitors better understand the celestial objects, as well as learn about the important role played in the formation of the solar system.

The mobile space exhibition of the French city of Toulouse "Between Heaven and Earth" consists of two main thematic expositions: "Comets - the progenitors of planetary systems" and "Water: a view from above".

The exposition "Water: a view from above" is conceived as a journey around the Earth or a fascinating history of water seen from satellites. The central place in it is occupied by a large interactive globe with the function of the projector. This exhibition module will provide a better understanding of the technical capabilities of satellites on the scale of the universe. The exhibition is divided into 4 thematic spaces that allow to learn more about the water in each of its states: oceans, continental waters, ice and atmosphere.

The exposition "Comets - the progenitors of planetary systems", prepared by the Laboratory for Advanced Studies ESEP (Cosmic study of near-planetary space), is presented in Kazakhstan for the first time. Its content is very relevant in terms of space research, as it introduces information about the latest discoveries provided from the interplanetary station "Rosetta" and its landing gear "Philae", which makes this exhibition unique. A variety of exhibition exhibits will help to understand that comets are the most important bricks in the formation of our solar system, which play a big role in the contribution of water to the Earth.

Special interest of visitors can be caused by an exposition dedicated to the space mission "Rosetta". The program of observation and study of the comet Churyumov-Gerasimenko, to which the orbital flight vehicle "Rosetta" orbiter and the landing gear "Philae" was simultaneously sent, was developed by the European Space Agency. This European interplanetary mission with landing on a comet and conducting analysis directly at the location, was the first in the world. Starting in 2004, the mission of Rosetta reached the comet for 10 years, breaking 7 billion kilometers, provides unique observations and data to scientists who are studying and deciphering them. The exhibition presents a model (in ¼ scale) of "Rosetta" and the exact reproduction of the surface of the site of the comet "Churyumov-Gerassimenko".

Admission is free.
