Astana Ballet Tour

Only four days residents and guests of Almaty will be able to see the magnificent works and the latest performances of the brilliant team on the stage of the Abai State Academic Theater.

The first day of the tour will be opened by an exquisite program Astana Ballet Presents, which includes three one-act ballets in neoclassical style: Concerto Barocco, A Journey of Memory, and Love's Lost Idols.

For the first time Almaty audience will see Concerto Barocco. This masterpiece by American choreographer George Balanchine to the music of Johann Sebastian Bach is among the greatest creations in the history of dance. There is no clear plot in it. Its main feature is the absolute fusion of music and dance. It is the standard of storyless neoclassical ballet and most accurately expresses Balanchine's creative credo: "to see the music and hear the dance".

Ballet A Journey of Memory by German choreographer Raymondo Rebecca will take the audience into the world of illusory consciousness of the main character. The story of one woman's life unfolds on stage, she is in dialogue with her past, looking at her own reflection in the mirror. Raimondo Rebecca seeks to immerse the audience and the heroine in the atmosphere of the distant past, leaving everyone in the real world.

Love's Lost Idols by American choreographer Nicolo Fontaine is an amazing ballet. Its emotional dance, the magic of Ezio Bosso's music, creates an incredible atmosphere in which the soul dissolves; and even after the last chords have been played, the audience is still in a state of admiration.

About the concert program: Maxim Zekini: "The idea of studying the repertoire for the left hand appeared to me a few years ago, when I first met the Concerto for the left hand of Maurice Ravel. I was completely fascinated by the game with one left hand, creating the impression of a full-fledged performance and giving the sound of a whole orchestra. I am very glad that I was able to discover the undeniable poetic richness of this original repertoire, which, among other things, is virtuosic and exciting."
