The V International Festival of Performing Arts «Otkrovenie» will take place in Almaty. Today it is the only festival in Kazakhstan engaged in the development of a modern theater, as well as supporting independent theaters and theater projects in Almaty.

Within the framework of the festival, directorial project of Tilman Hecker presents the play "Midnight", which is based on Wolfgang-Amadeus Mozart's piano pieces: arias for soprano and orchestra "Ah se in ciel, benigne stele", recitative and rondo "Non temee, amato bene" for soprano, piano and orchestra, the song "Sehnsucht nach dem Fruehling" ("Melancholy in the Spring"), a concert for pianoforte and orchestra No. 27, a sonata for piano No.14 in C minor and Fantasia for piano in C minor. But the audience will not hear this music.

How can music become visible? In the play "Midnight", Tilman Hecker and Lincy Pasinger visualize Mozart's four works on stage using combinations of sounds, dance theater and experimental musical theater. Mozart's music is not so much audible as it is visible: the musical fragments are replaced by actors' movements, video and light, while the full sound scale accompanies the direction of the performance and reflects the structural interpretation of the musical score.

The premiere took place on March 6, 2016 on the stage Radialsystem V (Berlin)

"The empirical play challenges our understanding of music, and gives new life to the works of Mozart." Exberliner (SM), N147 / 2016

Language of the performance: Deutch. Age restriction: 16+

The V International Festival of Performing Arts «Otkrovenie» will take place in Almaty. Today it is the only festival in Kazakhstan engaged in the development of a modern theater, as well as supporting independent theaters and theater projects in Almaty.

Within the framework of the festival, an independent British theater company "Rhum and Clay" (Great Britain) presents the play "Testosterone", which is the result of the theater's cooperation with the director and playwright, transgender Keith Redstone, who works in the genre of black comedy. The premiere took place in August 2017 as part of a special program of the British Council at the international festival Fringe in Edinburgh, where the production was highly praised by critics and received a number of awards.

What kind of man are you? What does it mean to be a man or a woman? Sex - congenital or acquired?

Keith, who changed sex from female to male in his thirties, is well acquainted with adult life on both sides of the gender boundary. Living his unique experience, he sees differences in how he perceives society - what he gets and what he loses, becoming a man. His main test is the first appearance in the men's locker room in the gym, where he faces masculinity in all its manifestations - good, bad and ugly. What kind of a man will he be after that? In a fresh, honest and audacious comedy theater, Rhum and Clay and the playwright and director Keith Redstone explore the epic path that anyone who tries to create their own identity will go through.

"Testosterone" entered the special program of the British Council at the international festival Fringe in Edinburgh in 2017.

The play combines narrative, comedy and physical theater with a talented text based on the real story of the actor-transgender Keith Redstone. This is an intimate and out-of-the-ordinary story about how Keith perceives life, love and humor. This is also an impressive story about gender, based on the first experience of entering the Kit-man into the masculine world. The work of China is at the forefront of the British transgender theater and creates a space for the development of inclusion and mutual respect in the theater.

The performance is the winner in the nomination "Best Performance" at the Fringe Festival - Pleasance 2017, nominee for the Peter Brook Empty Space Award 2017

Language of the production: English (with Russian subtitles). Age limit: 16+
