DAY BY DAY ITINERARY
 
Day 1. Karaganda - Karkaralinsk
 
Departure from Karaganda to Karkaralinsk town (230 km, 4 hours). Accommodation at the hotel, lunch. Excursion to Tasbulak gorge (20 km), famous for its museum of nature and wild animals aviary.
Museum of Nature is located in Tasbulak gorge of Karkarala National Park. The two-storey wooden house consists of exhibition halls of flora and fauna of Karkarala area. In one of the museum hall there is the layout of area of Karkarala National Park. Museum includes the adjacent territory, where in the wild live and breed bisons, which were delivered in the early 2000s from the Bialowieza Forest of Belarus. In a special aviary there are wild boars, yaks, spotted deer and Przewalski's horses.
Transfer to the district of the Three caves, a short walking tour to the caves, where the early man site was found. Return to Karkaralinsk, dinner. Overnight in Karkaralinsk.
 
Day 2. Karkaralinsk
 
Breakfast in the hotel. Journey to the foot of the Karkaraly mountains (12 km, 20 min). Half-day walking tour around the mountains, visiting Shaytankol Lake, as well as climbing to the top of the Obzornaya peak (also known as Medved, 1343 metres above sea level), from where you can have a wonderful view of the whole mountain and forest oasis, including its highest point – the Karkaraly peak (also known as Komsomolsky peak). The total ascent is about 250 meters. Return to Karkaralinsk, lunch. Sightseeing tour around the town and to the Museum of local lore. Dinner. Overnight in Karkaralinsk.
 
Day 3. Karkaralinsk - Kassym Amanzholov Village - Archaeologists Camp
 
Breakfast in the hotel and check-out. Departure form Karkaralinsk to Kassym Amanzholov village (50 km, 1 hour). Visiting the Forty Lakes district and the abandoned gem mine (10 km, 15-min-long drive, followed by a 2-hour-long walking tour). Lunch in nature. Half-day excursion to the Kyzylkenysh river valley (15 km, 40 min), where the so-called Kent palace (Buddhist temple of the Kazakh-Zhungar wars period) is situated, as well as the site of the ancient settlement Kent, dating back to the Bronze age. Way to the camp of archaeologists, who do the archaeological dig of the ancient settlement (6 km, 15 min). Dinner. Overnight in the camp. 
 
Day 4. Archaeologists Camp - Kimasar Gorge - Karaganda
 
Breakfast. Journey to the Kimasar Gorge (62 km, 2 hours). Walking around, exploring the House of forester. Swimming in the lake, lunch by the lakeside. Coming back to Karaganda (235 km, 4 hours). Farewell party.
